ORIENTATION

The Google Student Consortium (GSC) conducted its first formal orientation programme under the leadership of the Google Student Ambassador, Ishan Guliani on September 25, 2014.

This orientation programme was organized with an aim to have an interaction of the college students with the GSC community.

The orientation programme started with a presentation on the Google Student Ambassador programme presented by the GSA. It started off with a brief introduction about the GSC. The GSC branch in ASET was set up last year with Naman Taneja appointed as the first GSA. The GSC sets an agenda for students every year and for this year, the three main agendas set up under the GSA programme are - Android APP Development, Cloud & Digital Marketing.

Further, a formal video recorded at TED was shown in the PPT that included some basic keyboard shortcuts that can be used in our daily routines.
Later, a brief idea about the GSC community was presented to the students.

The GSC is a group of like minded people who stand out and excel in what they do. The main ideology of GSC is to think out of the box and do things that matter. The GSC organises events, webinars, special drives with well defined success metrices and to reach out the GDGs and GBGs. The GSC will mainly be focussing on Android app development, Cloud & Digital Marketing this year.

The short term target of GSC –ASET is to conduct dedicated app development sessions in the GOOGLY way. They will try to get some LIVE APPS up and running on the Google Play Store by the end of this year.

The session finally got over with the GSA telling the students about the benefits of joining the Google Community. Overall, this Orientation was a huge success and we further look forward for many exciting sessions coming up under GSC.
